2007 Reaching Readers Across Boundaries

Reaching Readers Across Boundaries

June 4-6, 2007 • Washington, DC

Publishing for Impact is the only event of its kind that speaks specifically to the concerns of non-profit publishers. Now in its third year, the event will focus on publishing across boundaries—both geographic and technological. In a rapidly transforming publishing environment, how institutional and scholarly publishers choose to reach their audiences can depend on many factors—the type of content, distribution options, costs, organizational mission, and the audience itself. Non-profit publishers confront an array of options for distributing their content—in print and electronically. Many are under pressure from their institutions to make content available for free online to further the organizational mission. However, when end-users in developing countries are unable to access the Internet, reaching them can be more complicated. Understanding how the end-user prefers to obtain this content can be challenging, and providing it in the preferred format might not be the most cost-effective solution for the institution.

First of many publishing conferences that I have attended that seemed to actually "fit" the publishing model with which I am involved.

Excellent conference, lots of new info, good atmosphere, stimulating.
Thank you.
